The objective of this project is to develop a decentralized awareness system in a Agent Supported Cooperative Work (ASCW) context. To realize the objective a Multi-Agent System (MAS) will be developed. Agents will be situated at each user's computer, observing local activities and informing interested agents at other computers, as well informing the local user about other user's activities, preferably in an uninterupting manner. To limit the scope of the project awareness of common code in programming, explicitly Java in the Eclipse IDE is implemented. The solution will consist of two components : Java Awareness Multi-Agent System (JAMAS)JAMAS is developed using the FIPA-compliant Java Agent DEvelopment Framework (JADE) as middleware.
JAMAS is not dependent of any environment (except JVM) but handles delegated "awareness events", information on what each user is interested in and provides
observables to system information through a facade. JAMAS by itself is not an awareness tool.
JAMAS Eclipse plug-inThe JAMAS Eclipse plug-in aims to extend existing functionality of Eclipse to present users with a larger degree of awareness regarding common code. The plug-in or Awareness tool provides a GUI and implements JAMAS. Software and more documentation availiable at the download page. |
